Our overhaul procedure:We examine the flute and assess its condition. Your flute is first cleaned and polished. We will fit the foot joint tenon and head joint if they are loose. All corks, felts, foams, adjustment papers, pads and shims, and in most cases French bushings, pad washers and screws are replaced. We install the new cork inside headjoint. (Old corks shrink and the air leaks through) Old pins are replaced, keys re-oiled and tightened. For Straubinger pads, the tubings are fit tighter, tone holes are flattened and pivot screws resized to exact fit. Stabilizers are glued to the bottom of the cups to be able to shim new pads. In many cases we will also replace all pad washers, screws and bushings. We now use JS leak proof bushings. After an overhaul, your flute should look and feel like new or better. We made machine polishing optional. If you don't mind the "rustic" look of your flute you will save $250. You may also purchase a new handmade style case (artificial leather), bag, polishing cloth, and cleaning rod. Parts we use: JS leak proof French bushings JL Smith Valentino synthetic cork on tails, thumbs, G# etc. JL Smith stainless steel pins Natural cork on trills, back connector, and D# Straubinger pads with delrin stabilizers, or Pisoni felt pads |
